Junior Open

1. Rules:

1.1.Racing will be held under the Racing Rules of Sailing 2021-2024, the Junior Open Meeting Sailing Instructions of NCSC, and the principals and practices of the RYA Racing Charter.

2. Conditions of Entry:

2.1.Entry is open to all competitors under the age of 19 on 31st December 2023.

2.2.The safety of a boat and her entire management including insurance shall be the sole responsibility of the owner/competitors racing the boat, who must ensure that the boat and helm are adequate to face the conditions that may arise in the course of the race.

3. Fees:

3.1. The entry fees for the event are £10.00 for a double hander, £8.00 for a single hander.

4. Notices:

4.1 Notices will be posted on the notice board in the conservatory outside the Race Office.

5. Schedule:

5.1. 1st race start no earlier than 11.00hrs. Races may be held back to back and the planned schedule will be displayed at the Race Office.

5.2. Maximum of up to 5 races to be sailed.

5.3. Race durations are expected to be between 30 & 40 minutes.

5.4. The last start will be no later than 1600 hours.

6. The Course:

6.1. Will be displayed on the Committee boat. A map of the buoys can be uploaded via https://www.ncsc.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/ncsc-lake-BOUYS-a4-2-2.pdf and in the Sailing Instructions.

7. Scoring:

7.1. Results will be calculated using the RYA Portsmouth yardstick handicap system based on average lap time.

7.2. If 5 races are held: 2 discards.

7.3. If 4 or 3 races are held: 1 discard.

7.4. If 2 or less races all scores to count.

8. Prizes:

8.1. Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall in two age groups of Under 19 years and Under 13 years on 31st December 2022. Other prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the organisers.

9. Disclaimer of Liability:

9.1. Competitors participate in this regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4. Decision to race. The Organising Authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunctions with or prior to, during or after the regatta.

10. Insurance:

10.1.Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third party liability insurance with a minimum cover of £3 million per incident or equivalent.
