Course overview
This course would comprise the the RYA Introduction to Wingsurfing (sailing across the wind, basic steering and gybing), and RYA Improve your Wingsurfing courses which is designed to allow a complete beginners to cover the basics of Wingsurfing. The courses have a minimum wind speed of 6-8 knots, should we have to cancel due to low wind strength we will reschedule.

Course pre-requisites
None, but a reasonable level of fitness is recommended as learning can be physically demanding. Participants should be able to pull themselves onto the board from the water.

1 day or 2 half days or equivalent number of sessions (approx 6 8 hours)
Minimum age
16 Years

Content
Your instructor will guide you through the basic fundamentals needed to confidently wingsurf to a desired point.
Qualification gained on successful completion
Able to sail to a chosen point on the water, tacking and gybing in light winds.
The successful candidate is awarded RYA Introduction to and Improve Wingsurfing certificates (when available).
Format
Predominantly afloat but with some short classroom elements.

What's included
- Use of boards, training materials and equipment.
- Course certificate and syllabus/logbook (when available - July/Aug 25)
What you should bring
- Depending on the time of year, the Galley may be open for the purchase of breakfast, lunch and hot and cold drinks. If it will not be, you will be advised in advance so that you can bring your own food. Hot water will always be available.
- If you already have a syllabus/logbook, please bring it with you, including any certificates attached inside.
- What should I wear?
- Buoyancy aid of correct specification e.g. adult 50N (one will be provided if you do not have your own)
- A well fitting wetsuit to prevent water flow through (which will cool you down), suitable for the time of year / season / conditions. We strongly recommend a full length one.
- For inclement weather, a waterproof outer spray top or coat and base layers are recommended
- Items such as Dry Robes, should you have one, are also useful to keep you warm off the water
- Appropriate enclosed footwear, i.e. wetsuit boots or trainers that can get wet
- Appropriate seasonal hat and gloves
- Swimming costume and towel, shower gel etc.
- Sunscreen
- Water bottle
- Change(s) of clothing
Please note we do not offer Foiling courses at present.
