The Proposed Coaching

The Coach - Tim Rush. Tim is a highly-regarded National-level coach who works for the RYA and various class associations and is currently coaching adult Aero sailors at Notts County SC.

Who

To provide advanced coaching to U19's who are pre-existing members of Notts County SC. The coaching is aimed at those U19s who are current or prospective 2023 members of an RYA regional training group as a minimum; or can demonstrate by their race results and/or abilities they are at a similar standard.

Each block of coaching will have a minimum of 4 sailors (to make it economically feasible for the club) to a maximum of 10 sailors.

The coaching will be generally aimed at the following types of boats: Topper, ILCA 4 & 6, Aero 5, 6 & 7, Feva & 420.

When

Starting Tuesday 18th April through to mid July, in blocks of 2 to 4 weeks.

A 2 ½ - 3 hour long session on Tuesdays (block 3 to include an additional group on Wednesday evenings) from 5.30 until 8.00 pm. Late arrival should be possible, as set out below. It is felt that an appropriate session format would consist of 2 ½ hours on the water with 30 minutes for pre & post briefing.

Session structure

Sessions will aim to be safe, fun, informative and rewarding, providing opportunities to build sailing friendships.

Each session will follow this basic structure; remote Pre-briefing (???day before), skills coaching, short races and a session debrief on the evening (pre briefing allows participants to arrive late and join straight in).

Food will be available on Tuesday nights at the end of the session, provided by Mandy and Rosie (Tuesday Night Racing team), payment by cash only. The bar will be open. There is no food available on Wednesday evenings.

Cost

The sessions will cost £15 for each weekly session, to be paid for 2 weeks in advance for the total of that particular block start date i.e. £60 for a 4 week block. There will be no discount for any missed sessions or substitute sailors allowed so that the group can progress together. This cost is very competitive, a weekend of coaching at this level typically costs over £100 per sailor.

Guardian / Parental requirements

Any under 18 will be required to have a parent or guardian on site at the club throughout the weekly session.
